Love this!!!!!!!! A to do list is just as important as a to don’t list!!

On mine;

- don’t give my girls the same dinner over and over again (therefore, do learn to make better, more interesting dinners)

And going with that theme…..

-don’t make three different dinners….

Love this!! What has worked for us is finding 5-6 things i know the kids will eat and interspersing it with new adventure meals. That way they won't starve if they refuse to try something new ;-) Also takes the mental load out of meal times!

absolutely number 1. on my to-don't list would be don't pick up your phone. I think it would also be number 2, 3 and maybe even 4. number 5. don't put your needs last number 7. don't fritter away time

but really if i could just manage number 1, my life would be very different.

100% agree. There were some great stats posted in a Guardian article the other week that were terrifying. The average Australian spends 5.5 hours a day on their phone!! That's 83.5 days a year!!! And another stat that really rankled me (given my love of reading) was that in 2017, Americans, on average, read for 17 minutes a day and 5.4 hours on their phones!!!!!

If you haven't read Johann Hari's book Stolen Focus - do, it is fantastic (and makes it clear that we have a lot of structural/policy work to do around tech use and wellbeing!).

Let me know how you go with enforcing your to don't list - i think i will need to put my phone in a cupboard or somewhere out of sight for it to be successful! Sigh.

Yep I’ve read stolen focus and a lot of other similar essays. I spend between 2-3 hrs on my phone + time on my laptop. I’m not proud of that. I’ve come to the realisation that I need to fill my time with other better things rather than try to limit my screen time.
